Past weekend Liam started in the first EMX250 Grand Prix of the season. This race was contested on the beautiful track of Matterley Basin in Great Britain! The highly anticipated first EMX250 race weekend started with a fifth time in Qualification Group B for Liam. That resulted in a tenth starting gate. When the gate dropped for the first heat, Liam took a great start! After a few laps Liam settled himself into sixth. Past season began with a big up and ended on an downer. Starting did it with an incredible win at the EMX125 Grand Prix of Matterley Bassin at the end of February. Just a few days later a virus called SARS-CoV-2 aka COVID-19 would derail the world. Sending everything including our sport into a break. When it all stabilized, we resumed racing with races in Czech, Netherlands, Latvia and Italy. There at the Italian track of Faenza, Liam’ season ended prematurely due to an broken arm. Past Saturday all EMX250 riders tried to qualify themselves, a third time in less then ten days, for a grand prix hosted at Kegums in Latvia. Liam wasn’t too happy with the result at ‘Kegums 1.0’ but a few days later he redeemed himself with an nice result at Kegums 2.0. That last result left us hopeful for Kegums 3.0. But once again timed qualification didn’t went smoothly. Overwhelmed with tension Liam was unable to find the right flow. With a twenty-fourth time, the Sidi-boots rider performed far under his true abilities and pace. It is 2020 and everything is possible! Yes also three Grand Prix’ races in just one week and all at one venue. To catch up on some of the lost racing while we were in a global lock down, some venues are hosting three full blown grand prix ‘weekends’. One of those lucky venues is Kegums in Latvia. After months of no Grand Prix racing, the EMX250 riders restarted their championship in Latvia. With also Liam Everts on the starting gate.
