Race Report - Argentina 2023

The 1st GP in Argentina is in the books, how did it go?

It was my first time in Argentina and first of all I want to say that the track, the crow and the overall atmosphere was amazing! I think it's one of my favourite GP's.

The feeling on the bike was good all weekend. Despite nursing the wrist injury and feeling a bit sick for a few days I still felt good on track.

The qualifying heat went better than expected with a 5th place start I managed to overtake for fourth place and keep it until the finish line. A good pick for the starting grid on Sunday and my first championship points for 2023!

In the first heat my start was completely messed up. Because of the wet surface at the starting gate my back wheel spun out and I almost went over my handlebars at the start. I went dead last into the first corner. By avoiding a few first lap crashes and making good speed, I made it up to 7th at the end of the first lap! I felt good and even got to battle with my teammate for a while. In the end I got up to 5th place in the first race of the season.

The second race started way better than the first, but after a few laps I got passed quite aggressively by De Wolf. I couldn't avoid his back wheel and went down pretty hard. After that my good feeling was gone and I struggled to get back to a good position. Even making another mistake on my own when I was back up in 11th position. I didn't give up, because every point counts. But I only got back to 13th place in the 2nd race of the day.

Overall I finished the weekend in 9th place. The feeling was good, going down like that in the second heat was a bit unnecessary, but I'm already looking forward. I hope to improve my result and do better in Sardegna (Italy) in two weeks!
